A World Class Team

S4 NetQuest was founded in 2000 in Columbus, Ohio when it spun out of S4 Consulting to focus on providing custom learning solutions to large organizations.

We first brought together a multi-disciplinary world-class team, including Ph.D. level instructional designers in order to provide innovative custom training solutions; online, classroom and blended.

S4 NetQuest then developed the technology tools needed to leverage our staff expertise and enhance our ability to provide enhanced ROI to our clients. We continue to provide our award winning performance platform free of charge to clients to deliver training to their staff or who need an online platform to educate their customers or train partners. Our technical learning component library continues to grow year by year providing the basis for rapid cost effective custom elearning solution development.

Since our inception, S4 NetQuest has focused on instructional design innovation. We created a proven approach to transforming existing classroom-based programs into more engaging, appealing and effective blended learning experiences. For new training requirements, we use our M-pact learning framework to maximize outcomes.

Today, our clients range from financial services, to quick service restaurants, to medical device manufacturers and health care providers – typically these firms are in the top 10 in their industry.

Dan has extensive experience managing learning and performance support projects and has a career-long interest in developing tools for problem solving and in creating innovative ways for professionals to learn.

He served as the architect of S4 NetQuest’s performance support platform and winner of the International Society for Performance Improvement (ISPI), 2007 Award of Excellence for best human performance intervention.

Prior to co-founding S4 NetQuest, Dan taught decision support systems courses at the Ohio State University and developed man-machine simulations while serving as a senior engineer at both Lockheed Martin and Rockwell International to support human performance studies.

Dan received his B.S. (summa cum laude) in Computer and Information Science from The Ohio State University and his M.S. in Industrial and Systems Engineering from the University of Florida.


Guilkey, Ph.D.


Jim is an expert in instructional design with extensive experience in leading the design, development, and implementation of training solutions.

He is a frequent speaker at the American Society for Training and Development (ASTD) and the Society for Applied Learning Technology (SALT) Conferences and is acknowledged as an expert on learning strategy.

Before co-founding S4 NetQuest, Jim served as the Assistant Director of Flight Education at the Ohio State University and developed the FAA’s National Safety Program – teaching pilots to be better problem-solvers.

Jim received his B.S., M.A., and Ph.D. in Instructional Design and Technology from The Ohio State University.



Vice President of Operations

Don has extensive experience managing complex instructional design projects and is an expert in designing learning solutions that are innovative and effective both technologically and pedagogically.

Prior to joining S4 NetQuest, he served as the Manager of Retail Training Design and Development for Bank One. As an Associate Professor and Inaugural Director of the Center for Teaching and Learning at Cedarville University, Don’s team provided instructional design and educational technology support for the faculty.

Don received his B.A. (English/Professional Writing) from Cedarville University, his M.S. (Technical Communication) from Southern Polytechnic, and his M.A. (Instructional Design and Technology) from The Ohio State University.



Technology Services Director

Rob is well-versed in all major technical tools for web-based learning solution development including but not limited to Flash, Captivate, and Articulate. Rob and his team are also familiar with leading LMS systems and LMS standards including SCORM, AICC, etc.

For over a decade, he has supervised the development our extensive learning interaction library of software components that allow rapid development of web-based learning modules. Rob has also played a key role in all major S4 NetQuest projects and has led the development of both web-based elearning modules and interactive, multi-media facilitator support tools; including animations and hi-fidelity device and systems simulations.

Rob received his B.S. from Johns Hopkins University and has partially completed his M.A. from Otterbein College.



Marketing Manager

Julie provides project coordination services to our clients and is responsible for managing our marketing communications and speaking engagements.

She also supports partnering activities with our clients and assists with multi-project programs to assure all administrative aspects of project execution meet client expectations.

Julie received her B.A in Communications from Denison University.
